Its nectar attracts many insects and animals useful to the garden, such as bees, wasps, butterflies, beetles, flies and hummingbirds. In addition, it is visited by predatory and parasitoid insects. Without it, monarchs would be deprived of a plant essential to their survival.

Soak in water for 24 hours, then put on the surface and press in the potting soil, keep moist until germination, which will be improved by cold stratification (-4 to 4 degrees, for 6 weeks) followed by temperature fluctuations (10-15 degree).  Transplant away from the vegetable garden.
