A storage tomato that stands out for its classic red tomato flavor, a characteristic that is relatively rare among varieties grown for storage.
What I appreciate about Longkeeper is its ability to extend the tomato season well beyond the usual harvest period. Picked green, the fruits can be stored for up to three months after harvest when individually wrapped and kept in a cool place away from light. They ripen gradually, allowing you to enjoy fresh tomatoes for longer, even out of season.
To obtain as many green fruits as possible for storage, it is best to plant Longkeeper in the garden a little later than other varieties.
Every variety has its own personality. The best tomato isn’t the one that everyone likes, but the one that finds its place in your garden, your kitchen, and your habits.
