A pale yellow beefsteak tomato, delicately blushed with pink at the blossom end, with a surprisingly classic flavor for a yellow tomato.
What I like about Summertime Gold is its balance on the palate, which matches my ideal of a classic tomato flavor while still being surprising for a yellow variety. Its beautiful, flattened beefsteak fruits have pale yellow skin with a pink blush at the blossom end. Their flesh offers a harmonious tasting experience, where sweetness and acidity come together to bring out pronounced aromas.
Its dwarf plant has rugose potato-leaf foliage and is late-maturing but productive. It fits easily into a garden where space is limited or in a large container.
Summertime Gold was developed as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project, a collaborative initiative to develop dwarf tomato varieties involving Craig LeHoullier.
Every variety has its own personality. The best tomato isn’t the one that everyone likes, but the one that finds its place in your garden, your kitchen, and your habits.
